| ROAD CONSTRUCTION
This month the Horicon Public Library will a little more difficult to access than usual, starting March 16. The first phase of construction of Hwy 33 starts in, and will be closing down Lake Street from the stoplight to Palmatory, and Vine Street from the lights up to the bridge. To get here you will need to drive on Walnut Street or Maple Street (East-West). The intersection at Elm and Lake will be closed. The intersections at Lake and Vine will allow you onto Walnut Street, where you can access our parking lot off of Walnut Street. We're giving out a Road Construction Raffle gift certificate each month during the project. This month's certificate is a $25 one for LeRoy Meats! All you have to do is check out 5 adult items or 10 kid's items for each raffle ticket you earn.

| LATEST NEWS Konnichiwa! A new Rosetta Stone language learning program is available at the library: Japanese. If you've ever wanted to learn a new language, Rosetta Stone is the next best thing to moving to another country. It uses immersion techniques, so you're not translating in your mind from English to the other language. This computer program is not available at any other library in our system, even though it's enormously popular. Our Spanish language Rosetta Stone is NEVER on our shelves and waiting lists can be lengthy, so place ahold on either Rosetta Stone today. |

| AUTHOR FOCUS Neil Gaiman is everyone's favorite literary horror writer--for those of you who have never read his creepy yet funny and intellegent books, try American Gods (a mythological road trip novel) or the hilarious Good Omens, which he wrote with Terry Pratchett. For older kids Gaiman has written this year's Newbery Award winner, The Graveyard Book. And he's also the author of a book that was just made into a movie by Tim Burton: Coraline. For the picture book crowd, he has such gems as The Wolves in the Walls and The Day I Swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish. Gaiman has written fantasy such as Neverwhere and Stardust as well. For all of those comix lovers out there--check out the Sandman series of graphic novels. These beautifully written, quirky tales may make a comix lover out of you, if you're not already a fan. For more on Neil's work--check out the Gaiman podcast on our webpage: coming soon. |
